Applications are now open for Gloucester Cathedral Choristers!

Join a rich tradition of choral excellence, sing in one of Gloucestershire’s most beautiful buildings, and play a key part in our historic services, including Choral Evensong.

Voice Trials will be held on Wednesday 4 March 2026 for girls, and Thursday 5 March for boys, where children will sing their favourite song or hymn (no special training required).

Deadline for applications is Friday 6 February 2026.

Choristers are educated at the prestigious King’s School Gloucester, receiving a generous fee reduction and expert music tuition.

In addition to developing musical and academic skills, they’ll gain valuable experiences like participating in concerts, festivals (including the renowned Three Choirs Festival), and much more!

A chorister is a girl or boy member of a professional team in which all the singers play an important part – regardless of their age or experience. 

Choristers can join the choir from the age of six years old.

The Choristers sing almost every day, and benefit from an education in the traditions of English Cathedral music.

As well as having the opportunity to make music alongside professional musicians, every chorister receives an all-round musical education, including regular singing and music theory lessons.

Choristers attend the King’s School and benefit from an attractive Choral Scholarship towards fees. For pupils who require further financial support, additional means-tested bursaries may be available from the school or from external organisations, such as The Ouseley Church Music Trust who have supported the education offered to some of our choristers. On leaving the choir, the pupil is able to apply for a music scholarship from the school until their education is completed.
