Gloucester Cathedral is looking for 2 passionate and committed individuals who are seeking to complete their apprenticeship in the field of Heritage Masonry and Conservation. The successful applicants will undertake a structured traineeship in the Gloucester Cathedral Workshop as full-time members of our outstanding Stonemason Team.
1 x Fixed Term, 2 years:
£21,638 per annum for Level 3 Qualified candidate
Entry requirement for this position will be NVQ3 Stonemasonry or an equivalent Level 3 Diploma.
1 x Fixed Term, 4 years:
£19,128 per annum for Level 2 Qualified candidate, rising to £21,314 on completion of Level 3 in 2024
Entry requirement for this position will be NVQ2 Stonemasonry or an equivalent Level 2 Diploma.
The training will include:
Completion of the Cathedrals’ Workshop Fellowship Foundation degree validated by the University of Gloucestershire
Assisting in carrying out both general maintenance and specific project work on the Cathedral’s masonry
Using a variety of dedicated stone cutting and lifting equipment
As part of the Stonemason team, acting as an occasional ambassador for Gloucester Cathedral and its heritage to promote the heritage craft of stonemasonry
