Come and help us make history
This is a hugely exciting opportunity to join Gloucester Cathedral as it enters a key period of development. The Marketing and Communications Manager will play a central role in cementing our position as one of the leading heritage, cultural and spiritual destinations in the South West, helping us to grow, engage and diversify our audiences. You’ll join our Visitor Experience Department and will oversee the depth and breadth of our marketing and communications activity. This includes everything from liaising with press to updating the Cathedral website, copywriting for leaflets and managing annual marketing plans. As part of this, you will oversee the implementation of the Cathedral’s branding, working with our Graphic Designer to evolve our visual identity. You will also be responsible for bringing our digital work forwards, particularly through the creation of innovative social media content that responds to trends whilst working towards the objectives set out in the Marketing and Communications Strategy.
We’re looking for a motivated team player with an imaginative approach to communicating with a wide range of audiences. You’ll be supporting teams across the Cathedral - including our clergy, musicians, Fundraising Team and Visitor Welcome Team - so the ability to form positive relationships with various stakeholders is crucial. You’ll demonstrate a clear understanding of the Cathedral’s vision and values, living them out on a day-to-day basis.
The ideal candidate will have:
· At least three years experience of working in a marketing or communications role, with a proven track record of implementing strategies and campaigns across a variety of channels
· Experience of gathering, analysing and interpreting data and information
· Experience of line-managing and leading a small team
· Working knowledge of communications best practice and policy, including GDPR
· The ability to balance numerous priorities and deadlines
Crucially, you’ll be keen to make the role your own and have a genuine passion for ensuring the Cathedral is a place for everyone. In return, we offer the rewarding experience of working in a multi-faceted heritage site and dedicated support to help you further develop your career. You’ll become part of a national network of marketing and communications professionals, with plenty of opportunities to develop your skills through training and mentoring. Opportunities like this are rare, so if you are looking for a stimulating role where no day is the same, this could be the perfect job for you.
