We have a great opportunity for someone to come and join our dedicated team of Vergers
Full-time 40 hours per week
Flexible working pattern to include Sundays, weekends, and occasional evenings
Salary Band 8 (£25,018 - £28,000) per annum depending on experience
Vergers play a vital role in the daily practical running of the Cathedral as a place of worship. The work is varied and engaging, carrying a high level of responsibility.
Vergers prepare for services, take an active part in worship, and ensure high standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout the building. They act as leaders in health and safety and serve as a point of contact for a wide range of practical details.
We are looking for a organised, person-orientated individual with a positive attitude towards colleagues, the congregation, and visitors. It is essential that the successful candidate understands the flexible nature of the role regarding unsociable hours, including weekends, evenings, and overtime when required.
In return, we offer the rewarding experience of working in a high profile, multi-faceted heritage site with supportive teams who are committed to what they do. Opportunities like this are rare, so if you are looking for a stimulating role where no day is the same, this could be the perfect job for you.
